ways to get invovled
Become a Volunteer Mediator
Our Volunteer Mediators are the heart of CJAM’s conflict resolution services. These trained volunteers facilitate mediation, restorative justice, and conflict resolution sessions in settings such as community mediation, small claims court, eviction court, and restorative justice programs. To serve as a mediator, volunteers must have completed a 32-hour Basic Mediation Training or have equivalent training/experience. All new mediators begin as co-mediators, working alongside experienced volunteers to gain hands-on experience.
Support CJAM as a Volunteer
Not a mediator? No problem! CJAM relies on volunteers to assist with administrative tasks, marketing, social media, and fundraising. As a small organization, we depend on dedicated volunteers to keep things running smoothly and help us expand our impact. If you have skills in these areas—or another expertise you’d like to share—your support can make a meaningful difference.
Join a Committee
Committee members play a vital role in strengthening CJAM’s operations and sustainability. We have four key committees—Fund Development & Communication, Programs, Finance, and Governance—each helping to guide and support different aspects of our work. Whether you have experience in fundraising, financial management, program development, or nonprofit governance, joining a committee allows you to contribute your expertise in a focused, meaningful way. It’s also a great opportunity to gain insight into our organization and connect with others who share a passion for justice and conflict resolution.
Become a Board Member
If you’re deeply committed to CJAM’s mission and want to play a leadership role in our organization, consider joining our Board of Directors. Board members provide strategic direction, support fundraising efforts, and help ensure CJAM’s long-term success. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community by helping to shape the future of conflict resolution and restorative justice in Monroe County.
